The Christian Academy of Carrollton will host a Christmas program on Friday.

All grades will be participating in the Christmas program, "Shine, Jesus, Shine," school administrator Katie Matson said. The play will begin at 7 p.m. at the school, 1703 Easter Day Rd., in Carrollton, Ky.

"We're trying something different this year," Matson said.

Instead of the traditional Christmas story, the program features the use of black lighting, as well as music, sign language and scripted scenes.

The program depicts a celestial star search that takes place before Jesus' birth to select the Christmas star that will shine over the stable, a release said. Stella the Star Polisher, Celeste, Supernova and a host of other shining stars will be present as the stars prepare for the birth.

Admission to the event is free, she said, and the public is invited to attend.

The school will also participate in the annual live nativity scene on the Carroll County Courthouse square at 7 p.m. on Dec. 14 and 15.
