The driver of a tractor-trailer was killed when his semi left the roadway on a curve on I-71 and overturned, Kentucky State Police said.

Kristopher Shantz, 44, of Cynthiana, Ky., was ejected from the cab. He was not wearing a seat belt, a KSP press release said. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Carroll County Coroner David Wilhoite.

The semi, which was hauling mufflers, was northbound on the interstate. Police received a call that it was overturned at 7:37 p.m. Monday.

Kentucky State Police Trooper Jim Phelps is leading the investigation. Campbellsburg Fire Department and Henry County EMS responded to the scene to assist KSP.
