Fine Amnesty Month at the Carroll County Public Library has been extended through December. Borrowers can reduce overdue book fines and support the Carroll County Ministerial Association's St. John's Food Bank.
Area schools, businesses and community organizations collected more than 18,000 food items by Nov. 17 for the food bank through Scouting for Food. To keep the spirit of giving alive through the holiday season, the library decided to extend the program.
An overdue item returned with a non-perishable food item will have fines forgiven. For lost items, two non-perishable food items will have fines and processing fees forgiven along with 50 percent of the replacement cost. One non-perishable food item will forgive any outstanding fines, as long as all items have been returned.
For additional details on fine forgiveness or for the types of food most needed by the food bank call (502) 732-7020.
