Gauger takes interim job at Southwestern
Courier Staff Report
Friday, March 22, 2013 11:00 AM
Karla Gauger, former principal at Lydia Middleton Elementary School, has accepted a temporary position at Southwestern Elementary School.
Gauger will start as the interim assistant principal April 1 and hold the position until June 3. Gauger will earn a teacher's salary over that time, and will not receive any other benefits.
After her 45-day employment, the school corporation will search for a permanent replacement.
"I think it's a huge opportunity for me," Gauger said. "I was restless. I had done work with Canaan, and I was wrapping that up. I saw this position was posted. It all just seemed like it fell into place for me," she said.
Gauger retired Oct. 12, 2012. Before she became principal at Lydia Middleton in 2006, she was principal at Dupont Elementary School for five years.
She also taught for a combined 18 years at Dupont, Anderson and Lydia Middleton elementary schools.
