HONORING KENNEDY RUCKER
Tuesday, May 21, 2013 11:00 AM
Michelle Rucker Finnegan throws the ceremonial first pitch of the season Monday as the Madison Parks Department celebrated the 31st annual opening day at the Rucker Sports Complex.
The event included a special ceremony for the presentation of a plaque and an announcement that the building used to house the press box, concession stand and restrooms at the complex will be renamed in honor of the late Kennedy Rucker, Michelle's son.
The renaming of the building was the result of work done by Madison Consolidated High School students in November 2012. The participants in last year's City of Madison/MCHS Student Government Day voted to rename the building in memory Rucker, who was their classmate. He died in an auto accident in 2011.
