Monday, September 23, 2013 11:00 AM
Hanover College is honoring American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan this week through a series of public events.
Michael Gray, an internationally known expert on Dylan, will present "Bob Dylan & the Poetry of the Blues," Thursday, at 7 p.m., in Hanover College's Duggan Library.
Gary, the author of "The Bob Dylan Encyclopedia" and "Song & Dance Man III: The Art Of Bob Dylan" uses Dylan's records and film footage to show how the blues have inspired Dylan and how much he smuggled its poetry inside his own writing.
The presentation is part of a series of events highlighting the life and music of the iconic musician.
Additional events include a showing of the documentary, "Don't Look Back." The film offers an intimate glimpse into Dylan's 1965 tour of the United Kingdom.
The showing takes place Tuesday at the Withrow Student Activities Center at 7 p.m.
Dylan Listening Night takes place at the Withrow Student Activities Center at 7 p.m., Wednesday featuring selections from Dylan's catalogue.
All events are free and open to the public.
