A Kentucky man has been charged with murder as state police continue to investigate a woman's death in Trimble County.

State police believe Robert L. Baldwin III, 25, of Louisville, killed 24-year-old Angela Long of Pendleton, who was found dead early Wednesday morning in a Bedford home.

Baldwin called Kentucky State Police dispatchers at Post 5 in Campbellsburg this morning around 5 a.m. saying he had warrants and wanted to turn himself in at the state police post, a release said. Baldwin then told dispatchers that he had hurt someone, and that person was possibly dead.

Troopers made contact with Baldwin before he reached Post 5 and arrested him on five outstanding warrants from Henry, Jefferson and Oldham counties for charges including disorderly conduct, public intoxication and assault, Kentucky State Police spokesman Brad Arterburn said.

Carroll County Detention Center records show Baldwin had been arrested before on various drug, alcohol and assault charges since 2006.

"He's had a history of violence," Arterburn said.

After speaking with Baldwin, Kentucky State Police troopers went to a home at 34 Kenlee Drive in Bedford where they discovered Long's body.

The Trimble County coroner pronounced Long dead at the scene, the release said. A cause of death has not yet been determined.

Kentucky State Police Det. Tim Moore leads the ongoing investigation.
