The Fine Arts Academy of Madison Consolidated High School has put together a workshop for anyone interested in furthering their performance education.

Cessalee Stovall, an actress and Indiana native, is being flown in from New York to discuss auditioning skills, dance auditions, living in a major city and how to make it.

Stovall has most recently been cast in the second run of the Tony Award winning play, "The Book of Mormon."

Aaron Kelsey, the school's drama teacher, said the Cathedral High School graduate is where many of his students want to be in a few years.

"She's pretty current," he said. "She's done these things before, trying to bring arts to the Midwest. She knows what to expect with a future in the performing arts."

The event is open to the public, but Kelsey said there is a specific audience he's looking for.

"It's really best for seventh and eighth-graders who are thinking about studying this in the future," he said. "For people who are thinking about becoming actors."

The Fine Arts Academy is paying for Stovall's flight, so admission to the workshop is $20 per person. Tickets are still available.

The workshop is on Monday from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Opal E. Sherman Auditorium.

Kelsey hopes to offer similar events like this for interested students.
