Madison band earns 32 golds
Wednesday, February 17, 2010 10:00 AM
Madison junior high and high school band students brought home 32 gold medals and 11 silver medals from the Solo and Ensemble Festival sponsored by the Indiana State School Music Association las month at Scottsburg High School.
Scott Maack, director of bands at Madison Consolidated Schools, said the festival, "is a chance for students to prepare their own pieces in either a solo or small group setting. They do much of the preparation on their own, and it is a wonderful opportunity for the students to become better players on an individual basis.
"On the day of the event they play for a judge, which is usually a music educator from another part of the state," Maack said.
