Middleton student arrested for thefts
Saturday, December 08, 2012 4:00 AM
Madison police arrested a student at Lydia Middleton Elementary School on Thursday after a series of thefts.
Chief Dan Thurston said Shelli Reetz, the school's principal, spoke with patrolman Josh Abbott after a caller reported the theft incidents to police.
Abbott found that two Apple iPods and a cellular phone had been taken by a 12-year-old student from other students' lockers. The juvenile admitted to the thefts, Thurston said.
Police arrested a male juvenile, 12, of Madison on a charge of theft. The juvenile was placed on house arrest and released into the custody of his mother. He will meet with the Jefferson County Probation Department.
