On the second day of the new year, Grace Annabelle Davis became the first child to be born at King's Daughters' Hospital in 2013.
The 7-pound, 12-ounce and 20 1/2-inch-long girl was born to Nathan and Crystal Davis, both 22, of Ghent, Ky.
Grace, the couple's first child, was born Wednesday at 12:43 a.m.
The new father said that he and his wife stumbled onto the baby's name together.
"We had a bunch of names picked out for a while," he said. "We just mixed and matched them until we found that one."
Nathan Davis said his wife has wanted to be a mother for quite some time.
"She's wanted a kid since she was 1, so she's had a lot (of names) ready when it was time to pick names."
The couple is excited to take their newborn home.
Nathan Davis works for Carrollton Mills Service, and Crystal Davis attends classes at Jefferson Community and Technical College in Louisville. She said she now plans to stay home to care for her new daughter.
In her first full day, Grace was already dressed in a frilly red dress and a headband in preparation of her picture being taken.
"She was kind of hoping for a girl," Nathan said of his wife.
