More than 750 people participated in the annual Molly Dattilo 5K Run/Walk on Saturday.
This year marks the 10-year anniversary of Dattilo's disappearance in Indianapolis while attending summer classes at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis campus. She was last seen at a gas station on the west side of the city in July 2004. Dattilo, a Madison Consolidated High School graduate, was 23 when she disappeared.
The 3.1 mile run started and ended on Vaughn Drive by Crystal Beach Swimming Pool. The race was followed by girls and boys half-mile runs for kindergarten through third-graders, and boys and girls one-mile runs for third- through fifth-graders.
In addition to the race, the Jefferson County Historical Society created a "Decade of Memories" exhibit in honor of Dattilo. The exhibit will be at the museum until May 24.
Proceeds from the race go toward the Molly Dattilo scholarships and running programs at Shawe Memorial High School and Madison Consolidated High School.
