A Switzerland County Sheriff's deputy sustained injuries while escorting a female prisoner back to jail following a court hearing Friday afternoon.

Deputy Eddie McClellan was escorting Tracey Inman, of Cincinnati, from the Switzerland County Courthouse when Inman attempted to flee. McClellan tackled her and sustained broken bones in his right leg.

McClellan was transported to University of Cincinnati Hospital by helicopter with non-life-threatening injuries. Surgery was scheduled to repair the break of both bones in McClellan's lower leg, a press release said.

Inman was detained following the incident and was returned to the Switzerland County Jail. She was charged with escape, a Class B felony, and battery against a law enforcement officer, a Class D felony, following the incident. She is being held on a $20,000 cash bond.
