Rykers' Ridge students explain how computers help them learn
Thursday, February 07, 2013 10:00 AM
Rykers' Ridge Elementary School first grader Dakota Morrison, bottom, talks with E.O. Muncie Elementary teacher Kathy Auxier about the iPad she uses in her class.
Teachers from the Madison elementary schools, the junior high school, and visitors from other school districts visited Rykers' Ridge on Wednesday for the Digital Learning Day celebration and iPad Pilot Program open house.
Educators were able to ask the children what they liked about the program and were able to see the technology in regular daily classroom use.
An evening open house included a student showcase where the children discussed their favorite applications, demonstrated classroom-specific applications and introduced the student technology team. Parents were given information on iPad tips, the parental access and payment options for the hardware.
Rykers' Ridge Elementary School first graders, top, Nathan Tingle, left, and Brayden Barnes work on their iPads while waiting for visitors to ask questions.
