Jefferson County trash drop-off sites have not been running one day behind because of Christmas Day or New Year's Day, according to the highway department.

Jim Olson, county engineer, said the department provided incorrect information on the holiday change last week. He said all of the county's six trash sites have been running on a regular schedule, and therefore, did provide the service on both holidays in the past two weeks.

In light of the error, he stressed that residents follow the normal schedule:

• Monday - Saluda from 2 to 6 p.m.

• Tuesday -  Deputy from 2 to 6 p.m.

• Wednesday - Dupont from 2 to 6 p.m.

• Thursday - Rykers Ridge from 2 to 6 p.m.

• Friday - Canaan from 1 to 3 p.m. and Brooksburg from 4 to 6 p.m.

The six trash drop-off sites are open only to county residents who have purchased a 2013 trash card. The card can be purchased for $35 at the Jefferson County Courthouse.
