Two brothers accused of being involved in a string of Jefferson County break-ins were formally charged Wednesday with several felony burglary and theft counts.
Christian Allen Stewart, 18, and Darren Keith Stewart, 19, both of 8629 N. County Road 900-W, each face three counts of residential burglary, a Class B felony; three counts of structural burglary, a Class C felony; and six counts of theft, a Class D felony.
Darren Stewart also faces an additional charge of manufacturing methamphetamine, a Class B felony.
The two men were arrested Friday after sheriff's deputies received an anonymous tip linking them to stolen property. The charges stem from six different investigations in May and June.
Last week, police executed a search warrant for two homes associated with the men on State Road 7 and Audubon Park Drive and discovered items alleged to have been stolen, including several guns, tools, speakers and audio equipment, gaming systems and small machinery, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
The initial hearing came Wednesday because the prosecutor's office was granted a 72-hour hold to decide what formal charges to file.
Superior Court Judge Allison Frazier set high cash bonds for each suspect, both of whom have pending charges related to other cases in the court.
Darren Stewart's bond was set at $150,000 cash-only, while Christian Stewart's bond was set at $50,000 cash-only.
Their trials are both set for Aug. 27.
