Police arrested a woman Sunday after receiving a tip about drug use.

Officers went to the apartment of Mariah M. Esterman, 20, of Madison, to perform an interview related to drug activity.

After being invited into the apartment, officers observed uncapped syringes and a spoon with white powder on it, items that are related to drug use, Chief Dan Thurston said in a news release.

Upon searching the syringes and spoon, officers found that the white substance field-tested positive for heroin.

Esterman was arrested on charges of possession of heroin and possession of a syringe. She was taken to the Jefferson County Jail.
