Indiana State Police arrested a Madison woman Thursday on allegations she took a check from an outgoing mail slot at the Prince of Peace Catholic Schools.

Police said Tracy Bryant, 32, went to the Prince of Peace Catholic Center on Tuesday seeking financial assistance and was given a check for $100, police said.

Police said during her time at the center, Bryant took an envelope from the outgoing mail slot that contained a personal check for $285 from the personal account of an employee. According to a news release, Bryant tried to cash the check at a local bank.

She was taken to the Jefferson County Jail on charges of theft, forgery and being a habitual criminal.
