A Hanover woman was hospitalized Friday after her grandchild backed into her with an SUV.

Martha Lux, 71, of Hanover, was teaching her grandchildren how to attach a boat trailer to her SUV when the accident occurred in the Hanover Beach area.

Sheriff's Deputy Brent Bennett said Lux was attaching the trailer's hitch when her 13-year-old grandchild hit the gas too hard, pinching Lux's thigh between the trailer and the vehicle, causing a severe laceration. The incident occurred at 4:04 p.m.

Lux was transported from the scene to an open field at Hanover College where she was airlifted to University of Louisville hospital.
