A Spiceland, Ind., woman died Saturday while operating an off-road vehicle on Brooksburg-Manville Road.

Candace Pollit, 50, was carrying two passengers when the Polaris Ranger she was driving left the roadway and struck a large log. Pollit was air lifted to University Hospital in Louisville, where she died as a result of her injuries, according to a Department of Natural Resourses news release.

Indiana Conservation Officer Matt Hicks, along with Jefferson County sheriff's deputies, responded to the scene. The investigation is ongoing, but alcohol and speed are suspected as contributing factors in the crash, the release said.
