Here's the latest on the Madison-Milton bridge:
Construction of span 1 on the Milton side is progressing to the point where the truss has reached the temporary support. Span 4 is also progressing on the Madison side of the river.
Crews continue work on scour protection at the bridge piers. Scour is caused by swiftly moving water past the piers and can cause erosion.
Concrete is expected to be poured this week for top portion, or cap, of pier 6.
The Kentucky transition span is ready for installation of timber mats. The transition span is the section of elevated roadway that will lead from the approach to the new bridge on temporary piers. Work continues on the construction of a similar transition span on the Indiana side. Traffic is expected to be shifted to the downstream bridge in the coming months.
