Bridge blast moved to Monday
Tuesday, July 16, 2013 11:00 AM
Explosives Technician Bret Speelman of the Advanced Explosives Demolition Co. installs linear-shaped charges into a portion of the old Madison-Milton Bridge on Monday. The demolition of the first span of the old bridge has been postponed from Wednesday to Monday due to current and projected river levels. "The river is too high and the river is too swift right now," said Andrea Clifford, spokeswoman for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. The demolition of the 700-foot span could be pushed back farther if river conditions are not favorable. Several of the charges, bottom, have already been set on the span in advance of the next stage of demolition. (Staff photos by Ken Ritchiefirstname.lastname@example.org)
