Madison-Milton Bridge project workers have reinforced a section of the old bridge that has shown significant bowing since the latest controlled demolition.

The southernmost section of the old bridge, a 550-foot span, began to bow when the loads were removed from the bridge and steel members at the top of the truss were compressed, according to a news release.

Preparations for the next span demolition are continuing, though no demolition is expected to take place this week.
