Entries for Vevay's inaugural Christmas parade are being sought. The deadline to apply is Friday, Nov. 16. The parade will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1.

The parade lineup will be at 2 p.m. at the Switzerland County Fairgrounds. Floats, decorated vehicles, horses, walking entries, marching bands and others are encouraged to participate. All entries must be at least 50 percent decorated for Christmas, and be family-oriented and in good taste. Santa Claus will be the featured guest, so participants should refrain from using a live character, the sponsors said in a press release.

No entry fee is required, but entries must be pre-registered.  Entry forms with a complete set of rules are available in Vevay at the Switzerland County Visitors Center, 128 W. Main St., and Meredith Bookkeeping and Tax Service, 311 E. Main St. Participants can call Meredith's at (812) 427-9577 to have entry forms mailed, faxed, or e-mailed. Submission of a completed entry form does not guarantee acceptance into the parade.

Parade volunteers are needed for various facets of the event including walking characters.

The parade route will be Vineyard Street to Main Street, left on Main Street to Ferry Street, and right on Ferry Street to Paul Ogle Riverfront Park.

For more information on the parade or to volunteer, contact Kathy Meredith at (812) 427-9577 or e-mail kmerbts@hotmail.com.
