School officials have announced orientation and open house days for Kentucky schools as the first day of school approaches for Carroll and Trimble county students in the coming weeks.
Carroll County Schools
The first day of school for the 2013-2014 school year for the Carroll County Schools district is Aug. 7, but teachers and administrators already have plans under way to welcome students into their classrooms before the first day of school for meet and greets with students and parents.
Kathryn Winn Primary School hosted new student registration days earlier this month, but will also accept student registration during the Ready Fair, which will be held at Cartmell Elementary School on Aug. 1 from 4 to 6 p.m.
To register kindergarten students or new students from out-of-state, parents or guardians should bring the child's birth certificate, social security card and immunization record. New students from out-of-state, should also bring a Kentucky school physical and proof of a recent eye and dental examination on state school forms.
Kathryn Winn Primary School teachers and administrators will hold an open house on Aug. 1 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. for students to meet with teachers and tour the building.
Cartmell Elementary School will host the annual Ready Fair on Aug. 1 from 4 to 6 p.m. where students may look at class lists for the upcoming school year. Parents and students may also pick up pencils and other school supplies for the new school year during the event.
Carroll County Middle School plans to host two days of open house for students. The sixth grade open house will be held Aug. 5 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., with a seventh grade open house on Aug. 6 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Eighth graders can meet teachers and tour the building on Aug. 5 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
High school students may stop by the school office to pick up student schedules Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. until the beginning of school.
New students to the district may also register any time until the beginning of school at the office. Students will need to provide proof of residency, a fax number for the former school and be prepared to fill out an enrollment packet.
Carroll County High School will host a freshman orientation for incoming ninth grade students on Aug. 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. where students will take tours of the building, meet with teachers and learn about high school expectations. There is a $20 fee for the student orientation.
A parent-to-parent orientation will be held during the freshman orientation from 2:15 to 3 p.m.
Christian Academy of Carrollton
The Christian Academy of Carrollton begins the new school year Aug. 8.
Teachers and administrators will host an orientation evening on Aug. 6 for students and their families. Students entering four-year-old kindergarten through fourth grade will meet beginning at 5 p.m. Students entering fifth grade and up will meet beginning at 6 p.m. at the school.
Trimble County Schools
Trimble County Schools open Aug. 8.
Incoming kindergarten students and new students to the school district should bring a birth certificate, social security card, immunization record, a completed physical and a recent eye and dental record. New students should register at their schools prior to the first day of class.
Bedford Elementary School teachers plan to welcome students prior to the first day of school on Aug. 6 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. for an open house to meet teachers. A Kindergarten parent meeting will be held from 5 to 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 6 as well.
Milton Elementary School teachers plan to host an open house for students and parents to tour the building on Aug. 6 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Teachers will be on hand to meet and greet their new students for the upcoming school year.
An open house will be held at Trimble County Middle School on Aug. 1 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Each grade will meet with administration in the gymnasium for a discussion during the event.
Incoming sixth grade students will meet in the gym beginning at 7 p.m. Seventh grade students will have a meeting beginning at 7:30 p.m., and eighth graders will have a meeting at 8 p.m.
The middle school also plans to host a sixth grade orientation from July 30 to Aug. 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for students. There is no cost for the program.
High school teachers, staff and administrators welcome students to an open house on Aug. 5 beginning at 6 p.m. The school will be open for tours and for parents and students to meet with teachers.
Incoming high school freshmen may also participate in an orientation on July 30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the night school. There is no cost for the event.
