Work starting on stretch of I-71 in Trimble, Carroll
Courier Staff Report
Monday, November 04, 2013 10:00 AM
Construction signs are going up along a stretch of southbound Interstate 71 in Henry and Trimble counties in northern Kentucky.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet recently awarded a contract for asphalt resurfacing and concrete bridge deck repairs on southbound I-71 between the Trimble-Carroll county line and the Little Kentucky River. Crews are beginning work this week installing work zone signs and doing other work.
Transportation officials say that in the next few months, most of the work will involve drainage and bridge repairs. Asphalt resurfacing will take place in the spring.
Motorists heading south along that stretch of I-71 can expect lane closures except on Fridays from mid-morning until early evening. No lane closures will be allowed on major holidays.
The project also includes repairs to three overpasses.
