01: St. John's United Church of Christ won the Indiana Landmarks' annual Rosemary Prentice Award for restoration of the church after a storm related to Hurricane Ike.

08: Erik Bendl of Louisville walked through the Courierarea with a giant globe, his dog and a message about diabetes awareness.

09: The First Baptist Church of Madison purchased the former Eggleston Elementary School building for a Christian community center.

15: Gov. Mike Pence walked through downtown Madison with nearly 100 students and community members during his fourth stop in the "Walk a Mile with Mike" program.

20: A bridge that once carried buggies on old U.S. 42 in Carroll County was moved from its original location near Dow Corning to the western edge of Carrollton near Two Rivers Campground.

21: Madison Consolidated High School received a failing grade in a recent study of Madison Consolidated Schools buildings. The high school scored 48 out of a possible 100 in student suitability.

26: Keith Oeffinger, 36, of Vevay, died after falling from a moving car. He was found in the middle of Washington Street in Vevay with a head injury and was later pronounced dead at King's Daughters' Hospital.

26: KY 36 reopened to traffic after a six-month closure for a bridge replacement project over Locust Creek. The project was expected to take 90 days.

27: Walsh Construction crews began to rebuild Madison's Jaycee Park near the Madison-Milton bridge. Walsh used the location as a worksite while building the new superstructure.
