John Thomas Lawrence, 84, of Ramona, Calif., died Thursday, April 4, 2013.
He was born in Oldham County, Ky., to Nicholas and Gladys Lawrence. He served in the Army Air Corp and Air Force from 1946 to 1968. He flew in combat as an aircraft radio operator during the Korean War and served in several other fields during his military career. He retired after working many years for DYK of EL Cajon, Calif. He enjoyed flying, earning his private pilot's license as a teen and later earning a commercial license. He enjoyed electronics on aircraft and computers, building an early hardwired PC.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Lawrence; four children, David Lawrence of New Mexico, Ruth Privitt of Utah, Gladys Lawrence of Ramona, Calif., and William Lawrence of Julian, Calif.; one sister, Virginia Kessler of Florida; two brothers, Richard Lawrence and Gerald Lawrence, both of Madison; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roy Lawrence and Gene Lawrence; and one granddaughter.
The funeral service and burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 19, at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, Calif.
Bonham Bros. & Stewart Mortuary and Cremation Service of Ramona, Calif., is in charge of arrangements.

Ernest C. "Buck" McCormick, 81, of Carrollton, Ky., died Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 24, 1931, in Carroll County, Ky., to Elzie T. and Hazel B. Egerton McCormick. He served in the Army. He was retired from the Receiving Department of the former Atofina Chemical Company in Carrollton, Ky. He was a member of the Cove Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by one daughter, Patricia Ann Mefford of Carrollton, Ky.; two sons, Ernest Allen Grimes of Sellersburg and Glenn Chatham of Carrollton, Ky.; one sister, Betty Pecar of Carrollton, Ky.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Chilton McCormick, who died April 15, 2010; his parents; two sisters, Ruby Jean McCormick and Sherlon McCormick; two brothers, Jerry McCormick and Donald McCormick; and one granddaughter.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton, Ky. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery of Carrollton, Ky.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.

William Irvin Stoner, 91, of North Vernon, died Monday, April 8, 2013, at Prairie Lakes Health Campus in Noblesville.
He was born Nov. 11, 1921, in Indiana, to John and Jesse Stoner. He was a 1941 graduate of Madison High School. He served in the Army during World War II. He owned and operated Stoners Department Stores in North Vernon, Seymour, Rushville and Connersville for 50 years before retiring. He was a member of North Vernon Masonic Lodge 59 F. & A.M. and the former North Vernon Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed watching basketball and working in his stores.
He is survived by three children, Merle I. Stoner and John Robert "Bobby" Stoner, both of North Vernon, and Beverly Bowers of Noblesville; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Virginia Hill Stoner, whom he married May 17, 1943, and who died Sept. 2, 2003; his parents; three sisters; and seven brothers.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Burial will be in Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 1 p.m. until the service.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Our Hospice of Jennings County. Contributions can be made through the funeral home.
