Denzil Bultman

Denzil Lee Bultman, 76, of Madison, died Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at King’s Daughters’ Hospital.

He was born Aug. 27, 1940, in Greensburg, to Cecil Albert Sr. and Alice Fern Young Bultman. He was raised in Napolean and graduated in 1958 from Napolean High School. He grew up in the St. John Lutheran Church in Napolean. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage to Sherron A. Miller for 27 years. He worked as a truck driver for Grote Industries, OK Trucking, Madison Chemical, Reliance Electric, Coca Cola and Steel Technology. He was a member of the Carpenter’s Union Local in New Albany. He also worked as a pile driver building parking garages for Franki Foundation, helping construct Marble Hill with Newburg Construction and with Wilson Construction. In the 1960s he served as a police officer with the Madison Police Department and worked at Reliance Electric for several years. He was a member of Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion for 48 years and had served on the honor guard. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Stacks of Power Lodge, the Madison Moose Lodge 765 for 12 years, the Fraternal Order of Eagles for 49 years, Madison Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1969, and AmVets for 18 years. He enjoyed Indiana University basketball, his Harley Davidson trike, the Indianapolis Colts, NASCAR, poker runs and country music.

He is survived by one son, Dennis L. Bultman of North Vernon; one sister, DeVota Dean of Osgood; his caregivers, Robert and Elizabeth Hall of Madison; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father, who died April 23, 2010; his mother, who died Sept. 29, 2007; two brothers, Cecil Albert Bultman Jr., who died Oct. 7, 2011 and Donald Charles Bultman, who died 1946; and one nephew.

Military honors will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel. Burial will follow in the cemetery.

Friends may call from noon to 2:30 p.m. Friday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre.

Clabourn Howard

Clabourn Russell Howard, 76, of Madison, died Monday, April 17, 2017, at King’s Daughters’ Hospital.

He was born Nov. 5, 1940, in Rockcastle, Ky., to Green and Alva Allen Howard. He spent most of his life in Madison, and retired from Indiana Gas Company/Vectren after 30 years of service as a welder. He was a member of the pipe fitters union. He enjoyed the outdoors, walking in the country, his dog, fixing clocks and working on CB radios. He enjoyed building feeders and watching birds and squirrels eat from them.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Huffington Howard, whom he married Sept. 7, 1999; two daughters, Sabrina Stewart of Clarksville and Barbara Howard of Jeffersonville; seven step-children, Cathy Abbott and James Snell, both of Milton, Ky., Joseph Snell of Madison, Loretta Wynn, Darlene Ashcraft, Laural Sheets and Dema Sue Taylor; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Terry Howard; his parents; two brothers, Otis Howard and Clyde Howard; and two great-granddaughters.

The funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Lytle Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Main Street Chapel. A committal service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Gilbert-Howard Family Cemetery in Livingston, Ky.

Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 4 p.m. until the funeral service.

Donna R. Slater, 74, of Madison, died Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Ky.
