Lovella Dunagan Maxwell, 90, of Madison, died Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at The Waters of Clifty Falls.

Mayme Penick

Mayme Smith Clark Penick, 95, of Louisvillle, Ky., died Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Emeritus of River Oaks in Englewood, Fla.

She was born Jan. 6, 1918, in Madison. She moved to Louisville, Ky., around 1945, until moving to Englewood, Fla., in July 2012. She worked for General Electric, Appliance Park in Louisville, Ky., for 23 years. She liked to travel, read books and work word puzzles.

She is survived by three sons, William E. Clark of Englewood, Fla., Jerald T. Clark of Bainbridge Island, Wash., and Micheal D. Clark of Gentry, Ark.; two sisters, Rosetta "Rosie" Lutz of North Vernon and Viola "Vi" Ray of Beaufort, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buford McCord "Mack" Penick Sr., who died in 1982; and one stepson, Buford M. Penick Jr.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Ky. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville, Ky.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until the service.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Children's Hospital Foundation, for the benefit of the Burn Unit, Kosair Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 37370, Louisville, KY 40233.

Melissa D. "Missy" Powell, 48, of Hanover, died Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at her residence.

Robert Rosenbaum

Robert Keith Rosenbaum, 84, of Pendleton, Ky., died Monday, April 1, 2013, at Signature Health Care in Bedford, Ky.

He was born Dec. 22, 1928, in Carrollton, Ky., to Farrel Sr. and Erma Roehr Rosenbaum. He served in the Army. He was a member of the Westport Baptist Church in Louisville, Ky. He loved animals, especially his dogs and cats. He enjoyed spending time outdoors mowing, taking care of his lawn and playing golf.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Corina Murphy Rosenbaum; two children, Valerie Sandusky of Louisville, Ky., and Robbie Rosenbaum of Pendleton, Ky.; two brothers, Farrel Rosenbaum Jr. and Richard Rosenbaum, both of Louisville, Ky.; one sister, Ruth Wheeler of Louisville, Ky.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.

He was preceded in death by one son, James Rosenbaum; and his parents.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Ransdell Funeral Home in Bedford, Ky. Burial will be private in the Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville, Ky.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Layne Schmidt

Donald Layne Schmidt, 56, of Yadkinville, N.C., died Monday, March 25, 2013, at Doctors Hospital of Augusta in Augusta, Ga.

He was born Feb. 26, 1957, in Madison, to Donald J. and Joyce Ann Larmore Schmidt. He attended Madison Consolidated Schools until his freshman year of high school. He was a 1975 graduate of Columbus North High School. He graduated from Taylor University in 1980 with a degree in psychology.

He is survived by one son, Nicolas Jay Schmidt of Yadkinville, N.C.; one daughter, Katherine Branch of Augusta, Ga.; his mother and stepfather, Joyce and David Thompson of Taylorsville; three siblings, Keith Schmidt of Madison, and Darla Parmer and Dee Schmidt, both of Columbus; one granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, who died Nov. 3, 2010.

A celebration of life service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Community Church of Columbus, 3850 N. Marr Road, Columbus.
