Janis Aponte

Janis Elaine Spurr Aponte, 70, of Bedford, Ky., died Monday, April 3, 2017, at the Richwood Nursing Facility in LaGrange, Ky.

She was born Jan. 23, 1947, in LaGrange, Ky., to David “Pete” and Norma Lee Garr Spurr. She was a 1965 graduate of Trimble County High School. She worked at the Jefferson County Proving Ground and retired from the Army Corps of Engineers. She was a member of Hickory Grove Methodist Church. She was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, having once served as the commander for Indiana. She enjoyed shopping, Christmas and spending time with family.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, James Pete Aponte of Bedford, Ky.; two children, Jeffrey Payne Aponte of Bedford, Ky. and Jennifer Marie Aponte Huston of Hillview, Ky.; one sister, Audrey Pearl Morgan of Bedford, Ky.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was awaiting the birth of another great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Shirley Spurr.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Ransdell Funeral Home in Bedford, Ky. Burial will be in Bedford Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until the service.

Cleve Bayne

Cleve Joy Bayne, 89, of Navasota, Texas, died Friday, March 31, 2017, at Golden Creek Health Care and Rehabilitation in Navasota, Texas.

He was born Jan. 23, 1928, in Milton, Ky., to Cleveland Martin and Pearl Green Bayne. He served in the Navy from 1943 to 1945. He worked in wholesale food sales. He later worked with Harris County, Texas Law Enforcement for several years and then sold church pews in Texas.

He is survived by his companion, Virginia Lowe of Navasota, Texas; two daughters, Joyceanne White Kenney of Nacogdoches, Texas and Deborah Landry of Houston, Texas; one son, Cleve Mark Bayne of El Cajon, Calif.; three step-children, Eric Lowe, Ross Lowe and Norma Lowe; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including his caregiver, Ken Bayne of Spokane, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annis Laverne Tanksley Bayne; one daughter, Francie Bayne; his parents; three sisters, Mary, Eleanor and Freda; and eight brothers, Wilford, Oriel, Howard, Roy Allen, Joseph, David, James H. and George.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Central on Saturday, April 15, 2016 at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota, Texas.

A graveside service and burial will be held at a later date in Moffett Cemetery in Milton, Ky.

Steven Coy

Steven Duane “Steve” Coy, 65, of Shelbyville, died Monday, April 3, 2017, at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis.

He was born Nov. 25, 1951, in Shelbyville, to Duane and Betty Jean Foster Coy. He was raised in Shelbyville and was a 1971 graduate of the Shelbyville High School. He was a former employee for O’Neal Steel in Shelbyville and a truck driver for Daymark Inc. in Indianapolis. He was also an employee for Ross Wrecker Service in Shelbyville for 14 years. He was a jail officer for the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department in Shelbyville for 10 years. He drove for Quickway Carriers in Shelbyville for the past five years. He was also a reserve officer for the Shelbyville Police Department for several years. He was a member of the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Shelbyville. He enjoyed going on vacation, spending time with his grandchildren and his family, watching drag racing and attending dinner club.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie Ann Allen Coy, formerly of Switzerland County, whom he married April 1, 1972; three children, Mindy Endsley of Shelbyville, Travis Coy of Saint Paul and Ashley Keller of Shelbyville; one sister, Kathy Blevens of Shelbyville; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, who died April 22, 2011; and his mother, who died May 25, 2007.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel in Shelbyville. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.

Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Anna Hannah

Anna Marie Hannah, 79, of Madison, died Monday, April 3, 2017, at her residence.

She was born April 10, 1937, in Madison, to George Aley Sr. and Thelma Irene Mikesell Beech. She attended Madison High School and graduated from the former House of James Beauty College in Madison on May 27, 1964. She was a beautician for several years before working at Rotary Lift until her retirement. She attended Calvary Baptist Church for several years. She volunteered as an aide in local elementary schools and at The Waters of Clifty Falls. She enjoyed spending time with her family, watching her granddaughter play basketball, animals, yard work and sports.

She is survived by one daughter, Pam Crozier of Madison; two sons, Ben Hannah of Cincinnati, Ohio and Jack Douglas Hannah of Vevay; one brother, Jerry Beech of Madison; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert Beech and Charles Beech; and one sister, Daisy Croxton.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Lytle Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Vail Chapel. Burial will be private in Fairmount Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Sunday from noon until the service.
