Carolyn Joyce "Sis" Edwards Simpson, 56, of Madison, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at her daughter's residence in Madison.
She was born Sept. 15, 1956, in Madison, to John and Dorothy Massie Edwards. She was raised in Jefferson County and was a 1975 graduate of Southwestern High School. She was united in marriage on Dec. 14, 1977, to James A. Miller. She was employed with the U.S. Shoe Factory, Kroger Co. and Little Champ. She also enjoyed babysitting and caregiving. She was united in marriage on Feb. 24, 1995, to Patrick Lee "Pat" Simpson. She enjoyed rock hunting, Native American artifacts, gardening, her grandchildren and friends. She was a member of Madison Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1969 Auxiliary, Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion and St. John's United Church of Christ. She resided in Madison most of her life except for 11 years spent in western Kentucky. She was awaiting the birth of her second set of twin grandchildren.
She is survived by one son, James S. Miller of Hanover; two daughters, Sarah Fahr and Josephine Miller, both of Madison; her parents of Madison; two sisters, Tina Scott of Hanover and Mary Fox Bennett of Madison; nine grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Lee "Pat" Simpson, who died Dec. 30, 2011; one sister, Holly White, who died Aug. 15, 2003; and her grandparents, Sam and Josephine Massie, and Paul and Emma Edwards.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. A graveside service and burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Hebron Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. until the service.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Carolyn Simpson Memorial Fund. Contributions can be made through the funeral home.
