Flora Green

Flora Opal Davis Green, 99, of Milton, Ky., died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at Signature Healthcare in Bedford, Ky.

She was born Feb. 5, 1913, in Trimble County, Ky., the daughter of Manuel and Hallie Craig Davis. She was a longtime member of Mt. Byrd Christian Church in Milton, Ky. She enjoyed reading, fishing and gardening. She also enjoyed raising chickens and spending time outside.

She is survived by one son, Bob Green of Milton, Ky.; one brother, Cleon Davis; two sisters, Theola Knox and Bertha Buchanan; one granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and her caregiver of many years, Dorothy McKinney.

She was preceded in death by her husband, JR Green, who died in 1962; one daughter, Louella Green; her parents; four sisters, Buelah Davis, Blanche Jackson, Leona Richmond and Lucy Rice; and four brothers, David Davis, Hubert Davis, Paul Davis and Manuel Davis.

A graveside service and burial will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Moffett Cemetery in Milton, Ky.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Mt. Byrd Christian Church.

Goldie Kuntz

Goldie A. Kuntz, 97, of Hanover, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Hanover Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Oct. 25, 1915, in Lancaster, the daughter of Guy and Lola Dunham Law. She was a member of the first class at Lydia Middleton Elementary School and graduated from Madison High School in 1937. She and her husband owned and operated the former Campus Cabin on the Hanover College campus from 1947 to 1976. They also ran an after hours sandwich and pizza shop for the college students. They ran Cooper's Corner Drugstore in Hanover from 1960 to 1963 and the Soda Bowl on the Hanover College campus from 1955 to 1963. She was a member of Hanover United Methodist Church. She and her husband were active with the fraternity and sorority students at Hanover College. She enjoyed riding in their MG and traveling. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, George Kuntz of Bedford, Ky. and Roger Kuntz of Madison; one daughter, Sue Iburg of Lafayette; one brother, Lafie Straub of Madison; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVerne R. Kuntz, whom she marred in 1937, and who died in 1974; her parents; and one grandson.

The funeral will be at noon today at Lytle Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Dupont Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 9:30 a.m. until the service.

Garnett Lawson

Garnett Dale Lawson, 56, of Bedford, Ky., died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at the Robley Rex Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Louisville, Ky.

He was born Aug. 9, 1956, in Anchorage, Alaska, the son of Garnet Augustus and Mary Andrews Lawson. He served in the Air Force. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and building model airplanes.

He is survived by one son, Michael Dale Lawson of Louisville, Ky.; one sister, Karen A. Pipes of Madison; and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, John L. Lawson.

No service is scheduled. Cremation was chosen. Burial will be private.
