Andy Johnson Ramsey, 79, of Bedford, Ky., died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at Signature Health Care Center in Bedford, Ky.
He was born Nov. 28, 1933, in Sneedville, Tenn., the son of Roy and Hazel Rice Ramsey. He was a farmer. He was known for working on tractors. He enjoyed cutting firewood, and playing jokes and tricks on friends. He also enjoyed watching University of Kentucky basketball.
He is survived by two sons, Larry Ramsey of Pendleton, Ky., and David Ramsey of Madison; one daughter, Carolyn Colbert of Georgetown; two sisters, Wanda Trent and Mary Nell Greer, both of Tazewell, Tenn.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jewell Edens Ramsey, whom he married March 27, 1954, and who died in 2008; his parents; and two brothers, Lester Ramsey and Bill Ramsey.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Ransdell Funeral Home in Bedford, Ky. Burial will be in Bedford Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until the service.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Signature Healthcare Center Activity Fund. Contribution cards are available at the funeral home.

James "Rick" Thomas, 63, of Columbus, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 19, 1949, in Madison, the son of Wesley E. and Lois F. Bennett Thomas. He retired as grounds superintendent from Garland Brook Cemetery in 2009, after 43 years of service. He was also the owner of Rick Thomas Appliance Store. He enjoyed music and played in the Band Chapter II.
He is survived by three children, Tracy Schrum, Lisa Thomas and Kim Schuette, all of Columbus; one brother, Raymond Thomas of Columbus; four sisters, Roxie Rowlett of Madison, Linda McClure of Edinburgh, Kay Douglas of North Vernon and Lily Combs of Freetown; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Wesley E. Thomas Jr. and John L. Thomas.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home in Columbus. Burial will be in Garland Brook Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until the service.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
