Dottie Bliton

Dottie Sue Bliton, 49, of Madison, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Scott Memorial Hospital in Scottsburg.

She was born July 8, 1963, in Madison, the daughter of Garnett O. and Norma Faye Shouse Bliton. She resided most of her life in Madison. She was a 1982 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School and graduated from Ivy Tech Community College as a medical technician. She worked for Meyer's Manufacturing for 15 years, before working in the produce department at Walmart for five years. She worked in the cafeteria at the Indiana-Kentucky Electric Corporation for the past 12 years. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a member of the Madison Moose Lodge 765. She enjoyed collecting bears, sewing, computers, flowers, going to Clifty Falls State Park, and spending time with her dog.

She is survived by her mother of Madison; one sister, Ann Marie Bliton of Madison; one brother, Jeffrey O. Bliton of Madison; 11 aunts and uncles; one niece; one great-nephew; and several cousins and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her father, who died April 29, 2004; her grandparents, Faye Wesley "Dude" and Dorothy L. Pelsor Bliton, and Luther Shouse and Susan Matthews; her fiancé, Richard James "Rick" Ell, who died May 5, 2009; two uncles; and two cousins.

The funeral will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial will be at a later date in Grandview Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 3 p.m. until the service.

Carl Bovard

Carl S. Bovard, 83, of Vevay, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at King's Daughters' Hospital.

Walter Effinger

Walter Richard Effinger, 70, of Rexville, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at King's Daughters' Hospital.

He was born Feb. 18, 1942, in Rexville, the son of Hugo Fredrick and Hilda Clara Gigerich Effinger. He resided all of his life in Ripley County. He was valedictorian of his graduating class at New Marion High School and had perfect attendance. He also attended many trade schools. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was wounded. He retired after 43 years of service as a metrologist with the Reliance Electric Corporation. Early in life, he helped Alva and Margie Vestal with their farming operation. He was a member of the St. Magdalen Catholic Church in New Marion, Versailles Leora Weare Post 173 of the American Legion and the Madison Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1969. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, working in his yard, flowers, and his family.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly L. Payne Effinger; two daughters, Angie Hartwell of Dupont and Dara Adams of Madison; one son, Bryan Copeland of Madison; one brother, William Lawrence Effinger of Madison; two sisters, Ruth Ann Herald of Austin and Mary Jane Hunter of Rexville; seven grandchildren; one uncle and aunt; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Chapel, 310 W. State St. Burial will be in St. Magdalen Catholic Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted graveside by Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. The rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
