Lavelle Carlisle

Lavelle Rowlett Carlisle, 86, of Commiskey, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at her residence.

She was born Aug. 7, 1926, in Wise's Landing, Ky., the daughter of Creed T. and Cynthia Rowlett. She was raised and attended school in Trimble County, Ky. The family resided in Vevay from 1943 to 1946, when they moved to Jefferson County. She worked at Dupont High School as a cook and at the Dupont Grocery Store as a clerk for several years. She also worked at Grote Industries. She most recently helped her family at the Carlisle Farm Supply in Dupont. She attended Dupont United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Gerald D. "Jerry" Carlisle of Commiskey and Lee Carlisle of Dupont; three granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Lee "Buddy" Carlisle, whom she married March 28, 1942, and who died Feb. 27, 2003; her parents; two brothers, Howard Rowlett and Roy Rowlett; and two sisters, Lena Spry and Midge Chapman.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial will be in Dupont Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the service.

Christopher Joseph Jennings, 27, of Madison, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, in a vehicle accident in Madison.

James Lee

James C. "J.C." Lee, 81, of Carrollton, Ky., died Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at his residence.

He was born Oct. 26, 1931, in Carroll County, Ky., the son of George and Emma Carlisle Lee. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a plumber. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Leap Lee; two sons, Scott Lee of Madison and Tony Lee of Georgia; one step son, David Mefford; one step daughter, Phyllis Curd; three grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Martha Jane Cayton.

A graveside service and burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in English Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Graham-Dunn Funeral Home in Carrollton, Ky. Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Sheila Bliton Morris, 67, of Madison, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

Levi C. Pettit, 37, of Madison, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, in a vehicle accident in Madison.

Gerald Williams

Gerald Howard Williams, 70, of near Fairview, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 27, 1942, in Torrance, Calif., the son of Meredith Eugene and Cora Hazel Chowen Williams. He was raised and resided most of his life in Manhattan Beach, Calif. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was a self-employed woodworker all of his life. He was also a former employee of the State of California Department of Corrections where he taught woodworking.

He is survived by one daughter, Michelle Banta of Florence; one son, Mikel Williams of Jeffersonville; one brother, Don Williams of San Diego, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

No local services are planned. Burial will be in West Minster Memorial Park in West Minster, Calif.
