Carolyn Hammons

Carolyn Sue Davis May Hammons, 64, of Hanover, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

She was born Nov. 30, 1949, in Jefferson County, to Charles L. "Buster" Sr. and Myrtle Moore Davis. She was raised in Jefferson County and attended Southwestern High School. She was united in marriage to Thomas Paul May in 1972. She worked as a cook at the Madison County Club, with the Southwestern School System and at Hanover College at the Underground. She farmed most of her life, raising sheep, cattle, tobacco and soybeans. She was a member of the Abundant Life Tabernacle in Carrollton, Ky. She enjoyed painting, needle point, collecting Elvis memorabilia, farming and her grandchildren. She was awaiting the birth of her first great-granddaughter.

She is survived by one daughter, Angela Michelle Ward of Madison; three brothers, Ben Davis of Madison, Charlie Davis Jr. of Hanover, and Clarence "Bimbo" Davis of Bedford, Kentucky; two grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her father, who died, May 19, 1982; her mother, who died, March 7, 2011; and one brother, Lawrence "Willie" Davis.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. until the service.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Carolyn Mays Hammons Memorial Fund. Contributions can be made through the funeral home.

Albanie LaMothe

Albanie D. LaMothe, 77, of Madison, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at her residence.

Wendy Mercer

Wendy L. Mercer, 37, of Turners Station, Ky., died Monday, Dec. 2, 2013 at her residence.

She was born March 27, 1976, in Longview, Texas, to Larry Wayne Mercer and Kathleen Perkins Hendricks.

She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Johnette Bruce of Dallas, Texas and Katlynn Grace Bowling of Warsaw, Ky.; two sons, Norman Mitchell "BJ" Bruce of Kentucky and William Wayne Kelley of Turners Station, Ky.; her mother, Kathleen Perkins Hendricks of Sanders, Ky.; two half sisters, Misty Dawn Eicher of Sanders, Ky. and Terri Michelle Mercer of Austin, Texas; two half brothers, Leslie Vaughan Eicher of Brooksville, Fla. and Christopher Mercer of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father.

No services are planned. Cremation was chosen.
