George Earl Abbott, 74, of Carrollton, Ky., died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at Kindred Hospital in Louisville, Ky.
He was born Jan. 12, 1939, in New Castle, Ky., the son of John Shelton and Iva Lee Peyton Abbott. He was a farmer. He also owned and operated an Auto and farm Equipment Repair Store in Prestonville, Ky., for 10 years. He had previously been a machinist for 25 years with Armor Elevator, Murphy Elevator and Lerko Manufacturing Company. He was an Army veteran. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Thomas Abbott; four daughters, Sheila Reynolds, Sandy Abbott, Kathy Mitchell and Karen Wyman, all of Carrollton, Ky.; one son, Steve Abbott of Carrollton, Ky.; one sister, Mary Abbott of Louisville, Ky.; one brother, Gilbert S. Abbott of Shelbyville, Ky.; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Shelton Abbott; his mother, Iva Lee Peyton Frazier; two sisters, Viola Frazier and Maudye Coleman; and one grandson.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton, Ky. Cremation was chosen.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Myrtle Jenkins Cornell, 85, of Hanover, formerly of Berkley, Mich., died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at King's Daughters' Hospital.
She was born Dec. 28, 1927, in Oakley County, Mich., the daughter of Dale and Alice Frost Jenkins. She resided most of her life in Michigan and attended school there. She worked for many years in the dry cleaning industry, serving as a manager of operations. She retired at the age of 75. She enjoyed bowling, shopping and working hard. She moved to Jefferson County to be near her daughter.
She is survived by one daughter, Laura Hall of Dupont; two sisters, Norma Buddy of Florida and Jean Brand of Michigan; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Cornell, whom he married March 15, 1946, and who died March 9, 1996; her parents; her twin sister Mildred Tye; and four other sisters, Betty Fritz, Martha Ashcraft, Joan Paulson and Alice Lewis.
A graveside service will be held in June at Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley, Mich.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Breast Cancer Research. Contribution cards are available at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, which is in charge of arrangements.

Larry Claghorn II
Larry Joe "Joey" Claghorn II, 44, of Madison, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 3, 1968, in Madison, the son of Larry J. Sr. and Annamary Dryden Claghorn. He was a 1987 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School and a 1995 graduate of Indiana University with a bachelor's degree in secondary education. He moved back to Madison 10 years ago after living in Hollywood, Calif. He was a free-lance actor, and appeared in movies and television, including Spiderman III, Six Feet Under and advertisements.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, Larry J. Sr. and Annabelle Claghorn of Madison; one brother, James Claghorn of Noblesville; two step sisters, Anita Bunch of Madison and Tina Linker of Fort Wayne; three nieces; and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, who died in 1971; and one step brother, Tim Bunch, who died in 1992.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lytle Funeral Chapel.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 1 p.m. until the service.
