Cornelius P. "Kees" Bergman, 55, of Worthville, Ky., died Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at his residence.

Norman Bryant


Norman Dale Bryant, 74, Madison, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at his residence.

He was born May 17, 1938, in Speedway, Ind., the son of Walter and Myrtle Virgie Kemper Bryant. He worked for National Starch Company in Indianapolis for 15 years, then as a master electrician for Uni-Royal in Indianapolis for 10 years. After moving to Madison, he worked for Clifty Inn State Park and later retired from Arvin Meritor in Carrollton in 2000.

He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Murat Shrine and the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite. He enjoyed collecting things and working on the computer.

He is survived by his wife, Nila R. Huser Bryant, whom he married on Dec. 9, 1967; two step sons Roger Huser and Michael Huser; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

No service is planned.

Roy Darnold


Roy M. Darnold, 88, of Campbellsburg, Ky., died Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 26, 1924, the son of Carlisle and Lena Mitchell Darnold. He graduated English High School. He joined the U.S. Army on Aug. 8, 1944. He rose to the rank of technician fifth grade, serving in Company E 273D Infantry 69th Division. He was honorably discharged May 4, 1946. He received three Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart.

He was a farmer and raised tobacco, hay and cattle. He was a member of Brushy Fork Baptist Church and served as trustee, Sunday school teacher and deacon. He horse pulls and old Westerns.

He is survived his wife, Wilma Janet McManis Darnold, whom he married March 19, 1947; two daughters Bonnie Konkle and Vicki Fox; three grandchildren; one step grandchild; four great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded by his parents; a son, Roy Glenn Darnold, who died March 10, 2008; a brother James Carlisle Darnold, who died Dec. 2, 1991; and two sisters Virginia Buhlig and Alene Kindoll.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial will be at Caledonia Cemetery in Moorefield. Military rites will be conducted by Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion.

Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to time of service at the funeral home.

Charlene McMakin Johnson, of Lexington, Ky., died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Ky.

Everet Law


Everet E. Law, 86, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Hillcrest Home in Geneseo, Ill.

He was born Dec. 24, 1926, in Madison, the son of Forest Thomas and Blanche Anderson Law. He served in the Navy as a fireman first class during World War II. He was a self-employed contractor until retiring to Florida.

He is survived by one son, Kerry Law of Palm Bay, Fla.; one daughter, Cindy Witerski of Germany; one brother, Jim Law of Plainfield.; three sisters, Shirley Trobaugh of Bradford, Ill., Carol Lou of Henry, Ill. and Gloria Tonarelli of McNabb, Ill.; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Corrine Ryan Law, whom he married Feb. 19, 1947, and who died April 17, 2011; his parents; his step mother, Mildred Law; one brother, Noble; and one sister, Letha.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Bradford, Ill. Burial will be in the Henry Cemetery in Henry, Ill. Military honors will be conducted by Bradford Post 445 of the American Legion.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from noon until the service.

Nancy Michaels


Nancy L. Andrew Michaels, 73, of Madison, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at King's Daughter's Hospital.

She was born July 27, 1939, in Trimble County, Ky., the daughter of Elmer and Ruby Violet McClure Andrew. She was raised and attended school in Trimble County. She and her husband resided in Tell City for 13 years, moving back to Madison in 1977. She worked in the housekeeping department at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky. After moving back to Madison she worked in the cafeteria at E.O. Muncie Elementary School for 22 years. She was a member of the North Madison Christian Church. She enjoyed family gatherings.

She is survived by her husband, John Richard "Dick" Michaels, whom she married July 30, 1954; one son, Richard Neil Michaels of Crawfordsville; two sisters, Bonnie Mahoney and Joann Rutherford, both of Madison; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Virginia R. "Jenny" Johnson, who died July 1, 2006; and three brothers, Uhel Andrew, James T. Andrew and Randall Andrew.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial will be in Moffett Cemetery in Milton, Ky.

Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. until the service.

Mary Elizabeth Risk, 93, of Indianapolis, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, in Merritt Island, Fla.

She was born Nov. 7, 1919, in Madison, the daughter of Everett and Leona Maude Rea Burress.

She is survived by two daughters, Donna Hayes of Merritt Island, Fla., and Kathryn Maxey of Fishers; one sister, Evelyn Walker of Scottsburg; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Risk; three daughters, Wilma, Deana and Mary Anne; and her parents.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory Chapel of the Chimes, 1234 Prospect St., Indianapolis.

Teresa Webster


Teresa M. Webster, 50, of Bedford, Ky., died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

She was born July 23, 1962, in Middletown, Ohio, the daughter of Mike and Donna Brown Grindle. She was a lab technician at King's Daughters' Hospital. She enjoyed quilting, knitting and spending time with her grandchildren. She was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Webster; two sons, Andrew Webster of Hanover and Jason Webster of Bedford, Ky.; her parents; three brothers, Jammie, Mike and Eddie; three step sisters, April, Stephanie and Tammy; and two grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Wood-Oakley Funeral Home in Milton, Ky. Burial will be in Moffett Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 11 a.m. until the service.
