Bill Pruett

Bill R. Pruett, 78, of Deputy, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 24, 1934, in Deputy, the son of John Wallace and Mary Myrl Peacock Pruett. He attended the Sunnyside School. He was a lifelong resident of Scott County. He retired as a heavy equipment operator for the Scott County Stone Company in Scottsburg and had also worked at Arvins. He was a member of the Local 89 Teamsters and Scott Lodge 120 F & AM in Austin. He was a little league baseball coach for many years. He enjoyed gardening, watching Indiana University basketball, NASCAR, the NFL and operating heavy equipment.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Barbara Price Pruett; one daughter, Debra Elaine Colwell of Crothersville; three sons, Kevin Ray Pruett of Lexington, Michael Ray Pruett of Deputy and Mark Daniel Pruett of Cincinnati, Ohio; three stepsons, Richard Jones of Deputy, Steve Jones of Lexington and Darren Jones of Deputy; two stepdaughters, Beth Shelton of Scottsburg and Susan Jones of Deputy; two brothers, Willis Pruett of Plainfield and Donald Pruett of Hanover; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, John Robert Pruett, Lloyd Eugene Pruett and Marshall Lee Pruett.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, 465 W. McClain Ave. Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the service.
