Owen Barr

Owen H. Barr, 84, of Bedford, Ky., formerly of Henry County, Ky., died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton, Ky.

He was born in July 7, 1928, in Oldham County, Ky., the son of Lawrence Oldham and Mattie Wallace Barr. He owned Barr Electronics in Henry County, Ky., mainly working as a technician for televisions. He enjoyed flying airplanes and raising a garden.

He is survived by four children, Ronald Barr of Bedford, Ky., Sharon Harden of Glasgow, Ky., Rhonda Barr of Buckner, Ky. and Sandra Wright of Bedford, Ky.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Barr; one son, Edward Barr; his parents; and one granddaughter.

A memorial service will be at 5 p.m. today at Ransdell Funeral Home in Bedford, Ky. Cremation was chosen.

Richard Etherton

Richard L. Etherton, 65, of Madison, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at ResCare of Dupont.

He was born May 30, 1947, in Madison, the son of Bernard "Windy" and Clara Doris Phegley Etherton. He worked at Sandstone Industries for several years. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and attended Dupont Baptist Church.

He is survived by one sister-in-law, Charlene Etherton of Madison; one aunt; two nieces; two nephews; and 11 great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dennis A. Etherton; one niece; two aunts; and one uncle.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Vail-Holt Funeral and Cremation Service. Burial will be in Bayless Cemetery.

Alonzo Neely Jr.

Alonzo E. "Junior" Neely Jr., 71, of Madison, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at King' Daughters' Hospital.

He was born Aug. 10, 1941, in Muncie, the son of Alonzo E. Sr. and Flossie Luella Ellison Neely. He was raised and attended school in Muncie. He moved to Jefferson County and resided near Deputy where he helped many of the area's farmers. He was employed also with the U.S. Shoe Corporation, Tower Manufacturing, Decatur Plastics, North Vernon Forge and North Vernon Drop. He had resided in Madison for the past 15 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Annette Snider Neely; two daughters, Sonya Morris and Melissa Swallow, both of Muncie; one stepdaughter, Claudette Lawson of Muncie; two brothers, Richard Neely of Kent and Harold E. Neely of Muncie; three sisters, Mary Neely Shaner, Roberta Pauline Neely and Thelma Neely, all of Muncie; two stepbrothers, Edward Everroad and Robert Everroad, both of Anderson; six grandchildren; one stepgrandson; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Elsie Powinski, Mary Everroad, Violet Balle, Nettie Criss and Martha Brown; and one brother, Paul Henry Neely.

The funeral will be at noon Friday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial will be in Pisgah Cemetery in Deputy.

Ronald Sharp

Ronald L. Sharp, 82, of Carrollton, Ky., died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, in Carrollton, Ky.

He was born Dec. 22, 1930, in Pendleton, Ky., the son of Harry and Ardenia Sharp. He worked on the farm with his siblings, raising gardens, livestock and other farm products. He attended Bracken County Schools. He joined the Navy in 1951, serving during the Korean War. He witnessed the testing of the atom and hydrogen bomb in Malaysia. He retired from Roberts and Hudson Tire Company of Carrollton, Ky. and Florence, Ky., after 25 years of service. He was then the owner of S & S Used Furniture in Prestonville, Ky. He was a Gideon, helping place Bibles, and witnessing across Kentucky. He is a former member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Carrollton, Ky., a former member of the Prestonville Church and a member of the Family Worship Center in Carrollton, Ky. He enjoyed fishing, camping, trade shows, flea markets and the outdoors. He also enjoyed reading Westerns, working on and trading cars, woodworking, and telling stories about his family and his time in the Navy. His favorite pastime was cooking pancakes for his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Anna M. Staggs Sharp, whom he married March 24, 1956; four daughters, Anna Sharp Elliott of Cincinnati, Ohio, Charlotte Sharp Warren and Linda Sharp Potts, both of Louisville, Ky., and Denia Sharp Stoops of Carrollton, Ky.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one niece; one great-niece; and several cousins and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three siblings, Jane Sharp Colbert, Billy Sharp and James Sharp; and one nephew.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Family Worship Center in Carrollton, Ky. A graveside service and burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Lenoxburg Cemetery in Bracken County, Ky.

Friends may call at the church Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the service.
