Leonard Burns

Leonard Newton "Newt" Burns, 93, of Ghent, Ky., died Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton, Ky.

He was born July 6, 1921, in Sanders, Ky., to Leonard Harmon and Sally Ruth Bruce Burns. He served in World War II with the Army Signal Corps. He retired as assistant resident engineer with the Kentucky Department of Highways, serving from 1951 to 1985. He was a member of Tadmore F. & A.M. Lodge No. 108 and Ghent Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wfe, Helen Louise Perkins Burns, whom he married Feb. 7, 1947; two daughters, Sherry E. Lindsay of Worthville, Ky. and Ladonna S. Foreman of Louisville, Ky.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Kirtley Burns.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton, Ky. Burial will be in Ghent Masonic Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Dora Kinman

Dora Lucille Kinman, 75, of Elsmere, Ky., died Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton, Ky.

She was born Sept. 11, 1938, in Carroll County, Ky., to El and Ruby Stewart Granger. She was a homemaker. She was of of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by two daughters, Ruby E. Reynolds of Worthville, Ky. and Betty Beard of Carrollton, Ky.; one sister, Jenny Turner of Wheatley, Ky.; one brother, Ed Granger of Wheatley, Ky.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond C. Kinman; three sons, Raymond C. Kinman II, Raymond Davis and Joe Davis Jr.; her parents; one sister, Ellen Joyce Sharon; and two brothers, Bill Granger and Buck Granger.

No services are scheduled. Cremation was chosen.
