Larry Lee Mix, 74, of Hope, formerly of Madison, died Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Our Hospice Inpatient Unit in Columbus.
He was born July 3, 1939, in Carroll County, Ky., to Lawrence Walter and Ethel B. Morgan Mix. He resided his early life in Carroll County, Ky., and was raised near Brooksburg. He was raised in the Baptist faith. He was a 1959 graduate of Central High School on Ryker's Ridge. During high school, he worked at the Broadway Service Station in downtown Madison. He and his family moved to Hope in 1969 and he began a 43-year career as an assembler with Cummins Engine Company. He retired in 2007 and enjoyed his time with his family and friends. He enjoyed driving the back roads and nature. He also enjoyed history, raising cattle, collecting knives and cutting firewood.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Faye Callis Mix, whom he married June 16, 1967; one son, David Mix of Flat Rock; two sisters, Loretta Alene Kent of Madison and Imogene James of North Vernon; two brothers, Harold Eldon Mix of Seymour and Tommy Mix of Canaan; three grandsons; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John Edward Mix; and four infant siblings, James Mix, Sarah Mix, Mona June Mix and Agnes Mix.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial will be in Carrollton I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton, Ky.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 1 p.m. until the service.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society or Our Hospice Inpatient Unit. Contribution cards are available at the funeral home.

Ernestine Lorene "Tina" New, 85, of Hanover, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover.
She was born Aug. 3, 1927, in Muncie, to Ross and Lilly Hart Cross. She worked for many years and retired as a custodian for Southwestern Schools. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, quilting and knitting.
She is survived by two sons, Mike Kaufman of Union City, Ohio and Mike New of Hanover; one brother, Harold Cross of Muncie; one sister, Mary Ewing of West Lafayette; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James S. New, who died Jan. 10, 1992; one daughter, Pam Cravens; her parents; two sisters, Marjorie Donovan and Kay Findley; and her twin brother, Ernest Cross.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Grayson Funeral Home in Hanover. Burial will be in Dupont Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 11 a.m. until the service.
