Ruth Wheeler Butler, 95, of Madison, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at her residence.
She was born Nov. 27, 1917, in Anderson, to Edgar Marion and Lee Etta Varble Wheeler. She was raised on Patton's Creek in Trimble County, Ky., and attended the one-room school house there. Early in life she was a member of the Milton United Methodist Church. She worked early in life as a car sales lady with Russell Berry Car Sales in downtown Madison. She later worked as a chiropractic assistant for Dr. Osborn, Dr. Saari and Dr. Teaple in Milton, Ky. She co-owned and co-operated The Korner Kupboard Restaurant in Madison with her daughters. She was a member for several years of First Assembly of God Church in Madison and was most recently a member of the River Valley Community Church. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, caring for her lawn, sewing, church work and taking care of her home.
She is survived by three daughters, Judy A. Bray, Linda "Lynn" Murphy and Diane Ferrell, all of Madison; one son, Donald Butler of Clay City, Ky.; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. "J.W." Butler, whom she married Dec. 14, 1934, and who died Jan. 22, 2003; one son, James Hudson "Jimmy" Butler Jr., who died Oct. 19, 2007; her parents; eight siblings, Russell Wheeler, Lola Callis, Earl Wheeler, Glenita Jackson, Forrest Wheeler, Ralph Wheeler, Kathleen Shafer and Donald Wheeler; one grandson; and one great-grandson.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial will be in Moffett Cemetery in Milton, Ky.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon until the service.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the River Valley Community Church Building Fund or The Gideons International Memorial Bible Plan. Contribution cards are available at the funeral home.

Anna Marie Stout Carlton, 74, of Palatka, Fla., formerly of East Enterprise, died Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House in Palm Coast, Fla.
She was born Jan. 13, 1939, in Hammond, to Harold E. and Aldean Ruth Meyers Stout. She was raised and attended school in Hammond. She was a line worker at the U.S. Shoe Factory in Vevay for two and one-half years. She was also employed at the Randall Textron Inc. in Vevay. She resided the past several years in Switzerland County, before moving to Florida to be closer to her daughter. She was a member of the East Enterprise Wesleyan Church and attended the Fairview Baptist Church. She enjoyed being a homemaker and caregiver, and quilting.
She is survived by one son, Cecil Guffey of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Donna Ray Hylek of East Chicago and Cecilia Price of Palatka, Fla.; one brother, Jimmy Stout of St. John; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene L. Carlton, whom she married April 13, 1967, and who died Oct. 11, 2006; her parents; two sisters, Audrey Hestermann and Phyllis Farrell; four brothers, Gerald Stout, Ross Stout, Wilbur Stout and Raymond Stout; and one great-grandson.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Burial will be in Vevay Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 5 to 8 p.m.

Billy M. Culp, 85, of Hanover, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Hanover Health and Rehabilitation Center.
