Tina Harrod

Tina Renee Keith Harrod, 46, of Madison, died Sunday, June 8, 2014, in the 2300 block of Wilson Avenue in Madison, from injuries sustained in a hit-and-run accident.

She was born June 21, 1967, in Madison, to Doug Keith and Debby Leap. She resided most of her life in Madison and was a 1985 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School. She was first employed with Dairy Queen in Madison and later with the Hooks/CVS Drug Store. She was united in marriage to Lory Harrod. She worked for several years with FAS Plastics, Wolohan Lumber and Halcomb Home Center. She began a career as a certified optometry assistant on Aug. 13, 2001, working with Madison Vision Clinic and later with Taustine Eye Center. She was a Christian and had attended Hebron Baptist Church and Madison Assembly of God. She was also a member of Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed watching basketball, especially the University of Louisville Cardinals. She also enjoyed being on the beach and being with her dog. She loved animals, socializing with friends and being a mom.

She is survived by one son, Skyler Neal Harrod, stationed at Yokota Air Base, Japan; her father, Douglas Keith and his companion, Sandy Wiess of Rising Sun; her mother and stepfather, Debby Leap Barnes and Gerald of Dupont; one brother, Brian Broad of Madison; one sister, Ragen Bentz of Dupont; two half-brothers, Casey Keith of Rising Sun and Kory Keith of Orlando, Fla.; two stepsisters, Lisa Schafer of Madison and Shellie Hobson of Nineveh; 12 uncles and aunts; four great-aunts and great-uncles; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Abbie and Marjorie Bowin Leap, and Neal and Luvenia "Grandma Chippy" Keith; one uncle; one great-uncle; and one great-aunt.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial will be in Vevay Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 1 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until the service.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Madison-Jefferson County Animal Shelter or North United Methodist Church Youth. Contributions can be made through the funeral home.

Arthur Skirvin

Arthur H. "Tom" Skirvin Jr., 72, of Campbellsburg, Ky., formerly of Madison, died Monday, June 9, 2014, at the Hosparus Inpatient Unit of the Norton Pavilion in Louisville, Ky.

He was born Dec. 15, 1941, in Madison, to Arthur Sr. and Emma Campbell Skirvin. He attended the former Dupont High School. He served in the Navy on active duty from Jan. 12, 1960, to Feb. 17, 1964, retiring from the Navy Reserves on April 1, 2001. He moved to Mason, Mich., in 1985. He retired from Quality Dairy in Lansing, Mich., in 2001. He returned to the Madison area in 2009, locating in Campbellsburg, Ky. He was a member of the Madison Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1969, the Eagles Lodge, and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post in Michigan. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, playing horseshoes and corn hole, being with his family and talking.

He is survived by his wife, Ella McDole Skirvin, whom he married in October 1985; one daughter, Michelle Hayden of Milton, Ky.; three sons, Arthur Skirvin III of Columbus, Ohio, Oscar Skirvin of Mason, Mich., and Daniel Skirvin of Ida Grove, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Oscar Skirvin.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
