Roy Bell

Roy J. Bell, 79, of Hanover, died Saturday, June 15, 2013, at King's Daughters' Hospital.

He was born Feb. 1, 1934, in Trimble County, Ky., to Carlos and Ethel Banks Bell. He was raised and attended school in Trimble County, Ky. He worked early in life as a farmer and at Dave's Shurway. He then worked for several years at Robus Leather Products. He retired as a molder from Meese Manufacturing after 17 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed working in his yard, watching old Westerns, caring for his wife, playing with his dog and listening to the scanner. Earlier in life he enjoyed the CB Radio, using the handle "Blue Jay."

He is survived by his wife, Stella Ann McKinney Maddex Bell, whom he married Oct. 21, 1967; two sons, Ron Bell of Hanover and Roy Dale Bell of Hardin, Ky.; two daughters, Sheila Bell Withers of Hanover and Cynthia "Bug" Bell of Lexington; one stepson, Russell Wayne Maddex of Cypress, Texas; one sister, Beatta Jenkins of Madison; one brother, Delmar Bell of Olga, Fla.; one stepsister, Donna Sue Gaylord of Madison; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by one stepson, Terry Lee Maddex; his parents; two brothers, Douglas Bell and Elmer D. Bell; four sisters, Nellie Frances Merrill, Alma Mae Bell, Ruth Pearl Dean and Reatta Aldridge; and one granddaughter.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the service.
