Raymond Barron Jr.

Raymond H. "Junior" Barron Jr., 68, of Madison, died Monday, March 24, 2014, at his residence.

He was born June 29, 1945, in Jefferson County, to Raymond H. Sr. and Mildred Brierly Barron. He resided in the Madison area most of his life. Early in life he worked for Hooten-Koehler Monuments and later worked as a welder and fabricator at Rexnord-Chainbelt-U.S. Filter in Madison. He retired after 36 years of service. In retirement he enjoyed volunteering at Pope John, Shawe and the Knights of Columbus. He also enjoyed spending time with his dogs, fishing, gardening, going to auctions, collecting arrowheads and being with his family. He liked country music, Indiana University basketball and Cincinnati Reds baseball.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Dean Wilson Barron, whom he married Oct. 13, 1967; one daughter, Lisa Schwartz of Madison; four sons, Tim Barron, Richard Barron, Daniel Barron and Matthew Barron, all of Madison; two brothers, Kenneth Barron and Jimmy Barron, both of Madison; two sisters, Doris Ison of Lexington and Wilma Kay Barron Gresk of Sturtevant, Wis.; nine grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Gilbert Ray Barron, who died in 2012.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre today from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. The rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Claudell Lewis

Claudell "Bud" Lewis, 83, of Vevay, died Monday, March 24, 2014, at King's Daughters' Hospital.

He was born April 27, 1930, in Utica, to Richard Roland and Jeanetta Schwartz Lewis. He was raised and attended school in Utica. He worked as a warehouse manager for Milovac Inc. in Chicago, Ill., until 1974 when the company closed. He moved back to Indiana and began working for Cambell Hausfield, in Harrison, Ohio, as a machine operator. He was employed as a machine operator in 1985 for Schlumberger in Owenton, Ky., retiring in 1991. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family. He also was an avid reader of western novels, especially his favorite author Louis Lamore.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis E. Smith Lewis, whom he married Sept. 26, 1963; eight children, Bobby Lewis of Lawrenceburg, Bubby Lewis of Vevay, Denny Lewis of Patriot, Deena Knight of Shelbyville, Richard Lewis of Fisherville, Ky., Michael Lewis of Louisville, Ky., Linda Rosenberger of Jeffersonville and Bertha Greenwell of Louisville, Ky.; four stepchildren, one brother, Dale Lewis of Jeffersonville; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Claudia Elsenback and Tracy Lynne Lewis Vann; his parents; one brother, Richard "Dickie" Lewis; and two sisters, June Hall and Lilly Sullivan.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery in Patriot.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
