James Thomas Hadley, 91, of North Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Madison, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, in North Fort Myers, Fla.
He was born April 22, 1921, in Brazil, Ind., the son of Vestal and Ruth Hadley. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II, receiving several honors. He retired as an office manager at King's Daughters' Hospital after many years of service. He was a life member of Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion, Madison Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1969 and the Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his companion, Ella F. Weidner of North Fort Myers, Fla.; two sons, Duane "Yogi" Hadley and Gary L. Hadley, both of Madison; one daughter, Janice Bottorff of New Albany; his caregivers, Ralph and Nancy Weidner of North Fort Myers, Fla.; and several grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
All services will be private. Military honors will be conducted by Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to a charity of the donor's choice. Contribution cards are available at Vail-Holt Funeral and Cremation Service, which is in charge of arrangements.
