Lois Vayhinger Rose, 97, of Muncie, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at Parkview Nursing Home in Muncie. Funeral arrangements and additional information are pending at Vail Funeral Chapel.
Virginia Elva Long Vest, 69, of Madison, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at The Waters of Clifty Falls.
She was born Oct. 27, 1944, in New Washington, to Leslie and Evelyn Laswell Long. She graduated from New Washington High School in 1962. She had resided in the Jefferson County area since 1968. She was a 1982 graduate of the New Albany School of Nursing. She retired in 2005 as a licensed practical nurse with the Madison State Hospital. She then worked at area nursing homes and for King's Daughter's Hospital. She was a member of the Hopewell Community Church in Milton, Ky. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and being with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Edward "Sunny" Vest, whom she married Nov. 3, 1962; four sons, Sunny Eugene Vest, Douglas Wayne Vest, both of Madison, James Edward Vest of Versailles and John Richard Vest of Muncie; one daughter, Jenny Rebecca Vest of Madison; one sister, Della Beach of Jeffersonville; one brother, Samuel Long of Lexington; 10 grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one step great-grandson; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Everett Long; and one sister, Shirley Davis.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. until the service.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Hopewell Community Church. Contributions can be made through the funeral home.
