Emma Gene Becht, 87, of Hanover, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover.
She was born Feb. 3, 1925, in Scott County, the daughter of John L. and Mary Frances Garard Barton. She worked for the U.S. Shoe Corporation in Madison for 43 years. Following her retirement, she volunteered with the Jefferson County American Red Cross. She was a member of the former Mt. Gilead Methodist Church in Scott County.
She is survived by one sister, Norma Davisson of Scottsburg; one brother, Donald Barton of Fort Worth, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Becht, who died in 1980; her parents; two brothers, Leo G. Barton and Robert G. Barton; and one sister, Margaret Lanham.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Grandview Memorial Gardens Chapel. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.

Ann Bishop, 82, of North Vernon, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient facility.
She was born March 19, 1930, in Madison, the daughter of Oscar and Elizabeth Hall Ackerman. She graduated from college as a registered nurse. She retired from Muscatatuck State Developmental Center, where she was employed as a mental health administrator. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Elizabeth Hospital Nurses Alumni, the Columbia Extension Club and the Red Cross Board of Directors. She enjoyed traveling and volunteering.
She is survived by four daughters, Elizabeth Murphy and Theresa Browning, both of Butlerville, and Catherine Webster and Amy Ponsler, both of North Vernon; two sons, John Bishop of North Vernon and William K. Bishop of Hartsville; one sister, Elizabeth Sullivan of Madison; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Bishop, whom she married Jan. 10, 1953; one son, James "Bo" Bishop; one daughter, Mary "Dee Dee" Bishop; and her parents.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service in North Vernon. A Rosary service will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Katelyn Nicole Bruner, 17, of Madison, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012.
